The Film and The Musical
The Film
A film was made of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in 1968, and was produced by Cubby Broccoli, as were the Bond films. The script was partly written by Roald Dahl, who introduced the blacker elements of the story such as the child-catcher. Some scenes of the Pott's family home were filmed at Turville Windmill near Ian's childhood home in Oxfordshire.

The Musical
The stage production, which was based on the film, has a brilliant flying car and six new songs by the Sherman Brothers. It opened at the London Palladium in April 2002 and was a great success. In April 2005 the show opened on Broadway and has toured round the UK. It played very succesfully in Singapore and is now touring through the UK, and will land in Toronto in December 2009.
