Casino Royale

Casino Royale

Casino Royale (2006)

A close adaptation of the novel, with a slightly different ending. The rights to the Casino Royale novel were finally acquired by EON/MGM in 1999 and their adaptation was used to launch the film franchise reboot with new Bond actor, Daniel Craig.

Casino Royale (1967)

Loosely inspired by the novel, the 1967 film stars David Niven and is a humorous, often psychedelic parody of the James Bond genre.

Casino Royale 'Climax!' Special (1954)

In this live TV adaptation, part of the Climax! anthology series, James Bond becomes American agent ‘Jimmy’ Bond and Le Chiffre becomes a fully Soviet agent. Jimmy steps in to kill Le Chiffre himself, and in the process, saves his former love, Valerie Mathis – who combines the book characters, Vesper Lynd and Rene Mathis. Due to the show being just 50 minutes and the performance being live, many details from the novel were cut. This first adaptation was lost for several decades after its airing, until a black-and-white kinescope of the broadcast was found in 1981.
